HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR BIKE FIT OR SIZING SESSION

Please follow carefully these instructions on how to prepare for your bike fitting or sizing session.

Coming prepared to your session will ensure the success of your fit and will avoid having to return for an additional session - which may incur extra costs to you.

Here you will find instructions for both bike fitting on your current bicycle and new bike sizing/custom geometry design.

Please follow the instructions for your specific session.

BIKE FITTING (on your existing bicycle)
Clean up your bike and make sure it's in working order      Find your route now and plan ahead for traffic.
Map now the studio location (click here for Google Maps) and plan your drive and time en-route. Please be on time. Not late. Not early. Just on time.

Bring everything you normally ride with:

Bike, 1 pair of shoes, shorts/bibs, jersey, socks (if you use them), etc. Imagine you are going out for your typical bike ride or race You can bring more shoes if you wish - there will be an extra charge for additional shoes and cleats set up. You don't need to bring gloves or a helmet (unless aero).

DO NOT WEAR BAGGY shorts, CAPRIS or loose clothing!

For TRI/TT AERO only: bring your aero helmet (if you have it; if you don't we have a Limar Aero Helmet to use for aero testing).

    IMPORTANT!!!
Check the cleats on your shoes (skip if riding with flat pedals). This is the most important step in your preparation!

If your cleats are WORN OUT (see examples on the right side)

OR

If your cleats are NOT:

Look Red color or

Shimano Black with Yellow Tips

    GO TO STEP
    IMPORTANT!!!

PURCHASE ONLY THESE CLEATS:

Look Red color or

Shimano Yellow Tip cleats (no other color, please!)

NOTE: Do NOT install the new cleats. We will do that for you. Seeing your current cleats position helps during the pre-fit analysis and the diagnosis of your current fit.

    IMPORTANT!!!

Bring any proprietary parts and/or specialty tools your bike may require:

Proprietary stems and seatposts.

Typically, if you have an advanced aero bike -road or Tri- with integrated aero front-end, you'll need the highly-proprietary and bike model-specific parts. These are parts that we cannot stock.

STEM replacements if you have an oversized steerer (Giant Overdrive, Scott, Cannondale Lefty) or an aero bike (Specialized Venge Vias, Cervelo, Scott, Orbea, etc). Some of these are included with your new bike, some are not off the shelf components and may require ordering through an authorized brand dealer.

PROPRIETARY TOOLS (typically needed for some aero seatposts on TRI bikes or Di2/eletctronic shifting systems)

AEROBARS EXTENSIONS & RISERS and bolt kit spare parts (typically riser shims, aero pads risers, etc.)

SEATPOST SHIMS for bikes with an integrated seatmast (Giant, Trek, etc.)

CONTACT your bike shop where you purchased the bike if you don't have a bags with spare parts for your proprietary or specialty components. Tell them you are getting a bike fit and ask them for any specialty parts you may need (like seapost shims, aero bars shims, aero stems of different size and rise, oversize stem, etc). Here are some popular brands that use specialty parts: Trek (Tri bikes), Cannondale (MTB), Giant overdrive (Road and MTB), Specialized (Tri and Vias), Cervelo (Tri and Road), Scott (Tri and Road), Look (Tri, Road, MTB), Orbea (Tri and Road), Kuota (Tri), etc.

NOTE: we cannot stock specialty tools or proprietary parts. They are often one-off. If you don't have them, we'll work with you to acquire them. We will have to break the bike fit in two session to first determine the size of the component and then do the final fitting after the component is installed. There may be additional charges for the 2nd session.

   NOTE:

You may bring any spare parts you have.

Stems and seatposts are the most commonly replaced items.

We have stock, but if you have your own parts and they happen to be the right size, we can use them -  and it will save you.

You MUST bring specialty parts -or we'll have to break the bike fit into 2 sessions. These include: oversized stems (Cannondale Lefty, Giant Contact Overdrive), proprietary aero stems (Cervelo, Specialized Vias, Scott Foil and Plasma, etc.);  integrated seatmast shims (Giant, Trek); aero bar extension shims (3T, FSA, Vision, Profile Design, etc.)

Aerobar risers like these are proprietary to each brand. They should come with your new Tri/TT bike in a separate bag or box. Ask your bike shop if you didn't get these parts with your new Tri/TT bike.

A complete aerobar riser kit like this also should come with your new Tri/TT bike. Make sure to have it and to bring it to the bike fit.

Bring a water bottle, snacks and sports drinks if you require frequent re-fueling
Bring anything you find useful for your comfort
Don't workout the day of the fit. You'll do plenty in the studio during the bike fitting session

NEW BIKE SIZING AND CUSTOM GEOMETRY DESIGN (new bike only)
Print out the bike geometry sheet for each of the bicycles you want to get sized for and bring it with you (new bike sizing only, skip for custom geometry design sizing)
Bring your saddle (Skip if you want to test out the Selle SMP models we stock)
Bring your pedals (we have Shimano SPD SL road, Look Keo road, Speedplay road, Shimano SPD mtb and CrankBrothers Eggbeater mtb)
